What is an A Record?

In DNS terms, an A Record is used to return a 32-bit IPv4 address, most commonly used to map hostnames to an IP address of the host, but it is also used for DNSBLs, storing subnet masks in RFC 1101.

For example, our ftp server hostname is ftp.matricweb.com.au and the IP address is 103.252.154.58
